Leica M11p & the Cara App

Leica, a brand synonymous with precision, innovation, and excellence in the world of photography, has taken another remarkable step forward with the introduction of their latest camera model, the Leica M11P. Beyond just delivering outstanding photographic capabilities, Leica has also introduced a groundbreaking Content Authenticity Initiative to ensure the veracity and trustworthiness of the images captured with this iconic camera.

Through the content authenticity initiative, the M11P is the world's first camera that allows users to encrypt their metadata and copyright information. This allows photographers to confirm the validity and origin of their photos. More particular, the copyright information is unchangeable. Any documentation of the adjustments is saved once the image has been shot. This means telling folks that you took the photo and that it isn't an AI-generated image.

I hope that other camera manufacturers will take this approach to protect photographers' rights in the age of AI-driven image creation.

Another mentioned in this article is Cara, a social media and portfolio platform for artists in the entertainment industry.

With generative AI becoming widespread, the team behind Cara felt the need to build a platform where human-made art can be found easily.

Many platforms currently accept AI art when it’s not ethical, while others have promised “no AI forever” policies without deeper industry knowledge.

The future of creative industries will require nuanced understanding and support to help artists and companies connect and work together, and Cara wants to be there to bridge the gap. They recently launch their mobile app on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, hoping to further enrich the community with Cara’s social features, whilst continuing to improve the portfolio aspects of the platform so that recruiters, editors, and art directors have a place to find human artists (AI-generated content will be filter out) easily.

Give it a try if you are an artist, designer or photographer!
